What comes to mind when one mentions the words ‘island paradise’? White sand beaches? Shorelines teeming with wildlife? A breathtaking view of an endless cerulean horizon? Idyllic landscapes largely untouched by the modern world? Well, at Guimaras, you get all of these and a lot more. A lot more. This magical island a short roro ride away from Iloilo greeted us with a ton of pleasant surprises.
No need to go to Europe when you have beautiful colonial cities in the Philippines! Head to Iloilo for a trip back to a time where cobblestone roads and pastel-colored buildings were the norm. The patterns, architecture and structures are just absolutely stunning.
Known as the heart of the Philippines given its shape, Iloilo is home to some of the most interesting historical landmarks and churches. It’s also undeniably one of the best places to go for the cheapest seafood platters (baked scallops everybody!) and to go for a hunt to taste the original La Paz Batchoy! The DiscoverMNL team took on a 4D3N heritage tour that showed us exactly what this province is all about.
Of course the classic La Paz Batchoy and Molo Soup are straight-up must haves in the City of Love but here are three of the newest food finds that you absolutely can’t miss out on!
